How to find the best showerhead water filter

Showerhead water filters can remove excess chlorine from your water, and that’s about it!

This is because so much hot water is coming through a tiny filter, very quickly, at high pressure. Contaminants have little time or opportunities to get “stuck” on filtration media, and heat can make it even harder for them to do so.

KDF-55 (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) is the gold standard filtration media for removing chlorine. It’s made of copper and zinc and is extremely effective. Carbon can remove chlorine, too, but you need more of it, and it needs to be replaced more often to stay effective. If you go with carbon, it’s best to make sure it’s doing its job by ensuring the filter is certified by NSF (not just “to NSF standards.”)

Whether you go with KDF, carbon, or something else, just make sure it’s certified by NSF to actually remove what it claims to remove. And, be wary of filters claiming to remove much more.

Suggestions here, of course— including what I think of the Jolie and Canopy 😉.
