Flax is medicine
Flax is medicine for the body and the home.
Its flower has anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, and anti-inflammatory properties, among other medicinal benefits. And of course, flax seeds are used to improve digestion, relieve constipation, and help lower cholesterol.
In the home, flax oil (also known as Linseed Oil) is one of the primary ingredients in linoleum, an ultra-natural and healthy flooring choice. Linseed oil is alo used as a non-toxic wood finish. And finally, the fiber from inside the flax stalk is what makes linen, a beautiful and thermoregulating fabric used in sheets and curtains.
Flax has been used by humans for at least 30,000 (!) years, and should probably be used as the Interior Medicine mascot, too.
