A healthy home office

I paid a lot of special attention to making my little home office in the corner of our living room a healthy place to work:

◾️Light blue wallpaper: this color feels so calming to me.
◾️No-VOC wallpaper and pine shelves finished with low-VOC water-based stain. VOCs are associated with headaches, fatigue, anxiety, and low productivity. Always a poor choice, but especially for an office.
◾️Plants: there are so many pro- office plant studies! They are associated with boosting creativity and productiveness and decreasing heart rate, stress, and anxiety.
◾️Old things: my favorite lamp of all time is thrifted. I found this old Russian clock at a thrift store in Estonia and brought it home in my carry-on luggage. Old things generally were made with fewer materials that release VOCs — or have had decades to off-gas. And, ironically, though they belonged to someone else first, they help make a space uniquely yours.
◾️Position: I can see out a window AND the front door. More on Feng Shui later, too.

Creating good-looking, healthy spots is hands-down my favorite thing to do.
