Electromagnetic Fields

EMF’s have been here since the beginning of time. They come from the sun as UV rays, and make up our visible color spectrum (ROYGBIV!) But, we’ve added a lot more since the beginning of time: x-rays, microwaves, cell phones, radios…

We know that UV rays and X rays can cause DNA damage (which is why you wear sun hats and get to don that nice, heavy blanket during x-rays at the dentist). But, there is some evidence that other EMF’s, from cell phones, wireless signals, power lines, and more, can cause health issues, like cancer, DNA damage, poor sleep, itchiness, and anxiety.

There’s also evidence that they don’t!

In other words, results are mixed, and a lot more research needs to be done. Regardless, some people experience electromagnetic hypersensitivity and live in EMF-free zones: towns without power lines, microwaves, or cell phones!

Others just want to be cautious, and use EMF-blocking paints, curtains, and other techniques in their homes. No matter your level of EMF concern, the field of EMF-reducing design is fascinating. Stay tuned for more!
