Botanical medicine for air quality

…I like to consider what indoor plants can ADD to the air, as well. In general, I believe it's equally important to add beneficial things to our home as it is to remove the harmful things. ⁠

Most indoor houseplants are tropical and semi-tropical species because they like to live in the same temperatures we enjoy (60-80 degrees). But I think sometimes we forget to think outside of the "indoor plant" box and focus on the trendiest rubber plant instead. (And I do love a trendy rubber plant.)⁠

Jasmine, eucalyptus, and lavender are all normally reserved for the garden, but they grow in pots indoors as well. All three of these have aromatic qualities that are beneficial for sleep. Jasmine binds to calming GABA receptors in our brains, and eucalyptus and lavender have been shown to improve sleep quality. ⁠

Our bedroom has a south-facing window, so I am most definitely going to add these to our space! ⁠
