3 bathroom design tips for acne

Acne and bathroom design: if you've experienced acne, you know your bathroom mirror can be a major source of stress.

Our bathrooms are one of the only places we are left completely alone, and it can sometimes be one of the most painful, isolating, self-critical places in anyone's home.

For that reason, I think we should take special care of these little spaces -- they're so much more than just a bathroom.

1- Soft lighting option: bring a little lamp with a 25 watt incandescent bulb into the bathroom and use that as your non-task lighting. Seeing yourself in a flattering light has a major effect on our stress, and therefore our skin -- I love what Dr. Shannon Curtis has to say about self-perception and acne.

2- Remove endocrine-disrupting chemicals: shower curtains and candles often have phthalates and other chemicals that disrupt our hormones and contribute to acne. Read ingredients on candles and shower liners and opt for organic.

3- Try a sustainably made bamboo Squatty Potty for better bowel movements-- good digestive health and elimination of toxins through our stool are a huge component of acne. Making the process more comfortable can be helpful! 😆

BONUS TIP: put just a little extra effort into your bathroom decor. Add some wallpaper or art to make it a friendlier place to be!
