White paint for cooler interiors

The "whitest ever" paint was unveiled last month by scientists-- it reflects 98% of light, as opposed to the 80-90% that regular white paint reflects.

This is a big deal because, used on houses, this paint can reduce the surface temperature by 40F compared to the ambient air! Isn't that crazy?

The hope is it will help combat climate change-- the less air conditioning we need, the better.

It's been so hot in Portland this week. I love few things more than an sunny early summer morning, but most evenings I'm ready to paint our roof ultra-white 😆. In the meantime, using white curtains can help! They reflect light, especially compared to dark-colored fabrics.
