Kitchen Air Quality

…way over the 1,000ppm level that people typically notice feeling drowsy at.

Everyday cooking- especially when making something like a wok at high heat- can cause hydroxyl radicals to mix with emissions from a gas range and cause smog-like conditions indoors.

Even though range hoods seem boring, they're a crucial element of healthy kitchen design, since they can get rid of indoor air pollution caused by cooking.

Importantly, they can be really pretty too! (Like in @white_label_interiors home above, designed by @ayeshausmandesign.)

If you don't have a hood-- opening the windows and using a fan is always a good bet.

Since my husband cooks constantly and is a big-time wok fan, we're looking for a more powerful one right now, that vents outdoors. One weird thing I've noticed: most of them come with WiFi or "smart" technology now. What?! I can't imagine how this might be useful. If you have one, do you use this function? Very curious.
