Do you have a house spirit?

Zashiki warashi, Japanese house spirits, bring good fortune to families, have the appearance of a small child, and usually "live" in the guest room of homes. Families leave food for them, and make an effort to keep their zashiki warashi comfortable, since they come and go (along with their good fortune) as they please.

In Finland, there are protective house elves called haltija, in Spain there are trasgus who enjoy domestic chores, and Icelanders build tiny houses for Huldufolk!

I think it's nice to make a little space for these visitors at home, and I love how persistent the mythology is around the world.
