$100 “remodel” of our kitchen

I moved the fridge, brought up an extra cabinet my building owner wasn’t using from the basement, and we screwed it into the wall with a $20 IKEA desktop on it. See before photos on my Instagram.

I put “marble” contact paper on the desktop and counters and swapped out the hardware with modern black pulls and knobs.

The desktop and contact paper were definitely not healthy materials, but on a tight budget in a temporary space, it’s all about balance. The amount our healthy home-cooked meals increased was well worth it.

This is all to say: in both medicine and design, I believe in being practical, balanced, and flexible, rather than rigid and dogmatic!
